AHU
An air handling unit (AHU) is a central component in HVAC systems that conditions and circulates air throughout a building. It's essentially a large metal box containing various components like blowers, heating/cooling coils, filters, and dampers. AHUs draw in outside air, filter it, adjust its temperature and humidity, and then distribute it via ductwork to maintain a comfortable indoor environment.
Functions
Air Treatment
AHUs condition air by filtering out dust and other particles, heating or cooling it, and adjusting humidity levels.
Ventilation
AHUs ensure proper ventilation by bringing in fresh outside air and exhausting stale indoor air.
Air Circulation
They use powerful fans to move air throughout the building's ductwork.
Energy Efficiency
Some AHUs incorporate heat recovery systems to reuse energy from exhaust air, reducing energy consumption.
